Official Rules For The Thanksgiving Song Contest

1. Living in a country that doesn't celebrate Thanksgiving is no excuse. If no British assholes writes a song about stupid, fat Americans I will consider this a total failure in almost every regard (the song better say "wanker" in it, too) If you aren't aware of Thanksgiving, write a song asking what it is. Maybe I'll write a song explaining it to you.
2. All songs must be new. I don't care about last year's songs. This is about being spontaneous, having a deadline, and having fun.
3. Serious songs are encouraged
4. Disgusting, garbage songs are encouraged (we'll label these accordingly) I want you to have complete and total artistic freedom on these songs. Adult themes, adult language, adult content are all acceptable. Just no kiddie porn!!
5. There is a limit of 5 songs per person. That's right. You can write more than one song, but I'm not sifting through 15 songs per person!
6. I'm debating if we should allow instrumentals. While a powerful instrumental can say a lot of things, I'm not sure if it can say "Turkey".
7. Any and all genres of music are welcome
8. The song must be your own creation. Don't do a cover song!
9. Don't do anything illegal. If you are doing something illegal with your song, I'm not responsible.

How To Enter
You enter the same way that you add a song to Recording Reviews. Instructions for uploading and Guidelines for song uploading can be found here: No Myspace! It sounds too crappy!

The only difference between this and Recording Reviews is you must put your Thanksgiving Songs threads in the Thanksgiving Songs Contest category and not the Recording Reviews category.

How To Vote
See the screenshot below. In the upper right hand corner of each thread, there is some text that says "Rate Thread". Click it to give your vote!


What Are We Voting For?
When you are listening to a song/recording in the Thanksgiving Song Contest, you are voting for how pleasing the song was to the ear. In other words, if you loved it, it should get the highest rating. If you hated it, it should get the lowest rating.

How does recording quality fit?
It fits EXACTLY like it does in real life! If the recording quality sucks, but you LOVED listening to the song, it should get the highest rating. If the recording quality sucks and this is a distraction that makes the song not fun to listen to, give it crappy score.


How To Win
The Song / Thread with the highest rating and more than 5 votes will be the winner.

It's strongly recommended that you tell all your buddies about your song and get them to vote for you. Winner take all!!

Contest Ends
The contest will end @ 12:01 AM on Thanksgiving Day, November 22nd, 2007. At that point, I will freeze all voting and send out a Newsletter announcing the winner.

Well, I can't resist a challenge so while I'm vacationing in sunny San Diego I'm now headed out to sit by the pool and write something pithy. Oh man, is this gonna SUCK!!!
