Default recording in sonar pro 8

Hi all

I've setup my guitar pre amp to go thru my maudio card.
I'm able to record no problem.
I record onto 'audio track 1' ok.
Then I set up a second audio track to record but what happens is when I record or check level on track 2 it shows on track 1 as though it's routing thru track 1 and 2?
It records ok on track having recorded track 1 without overwriting track 1.

Am I stupid or is it really obvious and I'm missing it?

Cheers in advance

Paul

Did you take track 1 out of record? Have you checked to make sure your output is set to your 2 bus?

Sorry for the obvious questions if you have.

Same here. Without seeing it, it seems that you recorded over track 1 (which is still there).

When you want record on track 2, do you get levels on both tracks 1 and 2, or just track 1? After recording, did you actually record to track 2 or are you recording on top of track 1?

Thanks for the replies!!!

Ryanoliver, I don't think I did do what you suggested, so that is possibly the issue....I've not been back to it as been working, doh!
Yes, michaelrb, when I record or just testing levels both tracks 1 an 2 register a signal.
I'm going to have a look tomorrow night when I finish for the weekend!!

Will keep you all posted!

Incidently, can anybody recomend an all round USB interface for my laptop.
It'll be for recording vocals/guitar/bass and a live drum setup but not all at once.
Was thinking of the M-Audio fast track pro or similar?

Thanks again for your advice
