This may be the wrong place to post this, but I'm using Sonar 8 Producer and I wanna know if it's at all possible to run the input of an external, non-midi instrument, like a guitar, through a soft synth to produce synthesized sounds without a midi controller. I wouldn't expect the software to understand which notes I'm hitting on the guitar, but is it possible to send whatever I'm playing on the guitar through a software synthesizer to get the synth to work using the guitar as sort of a pseudo-controller? Thanks for the help, -mgarrett |

I don't think you can do it that way, however, there are tons of effects and modifications that can be done to audio tracks. Why bother with the softsynth part of the equation? Just record your audio and run it through the effect that will give you the sounds you are looking for.
