Just installed Sonar 8 prod. the other day. Haven't gotten a chance to actually record audio yet because of an interface issue but I have opened the program and it looks great. What seems weird is that when i open a new project in the bottom right hand corner of the screen where it shows computer usage % mine jumps from CPU 1 to CPU 2 back and forth and back and forth. Is that normal??? Or is this because I have my sonar loaded on a slave drive instead of my main hard drive that has the os on it. I figured that by putting it on its own internal slave sata 500gb hd it would be more efficient since it wouldn't have to share with my windows XP pro. operating system. Was that a bad idea? |

I installed mine and updated recently to 8.5 PE on my main drive in XP pro.. i know of one other person on here who definately seems to know their stuff who is running sonar on XP pro as well.. I could be mistaken but I thought its supposed to be installed on your opperating system hard drive..Mine doesn't jump back and forth like that..

do you really care which cpu is computing at any given moment ? your disk set up is fine and not related to the cpu usage. |

Hi, Its an indicator which core is being used. Sonar uses multicore processors and the indicator your seeing shows which core is used. Its a happy indicator because you get to see your systems full potential because windows only uses one core on its basic uses but when you use a program like sonar which utilizes all you cores it shows which core is functioning thus transfering the load to all your cores. Its much cooler if you've a triple or even a quad core. |
