Default No output in Sonar 7 Producer...Considering lighter fluid and a hammer to resolve

I hope this has not already been answered as I don't like to fill up the boards with redundant threads. Here goes: I have not changed anything on my system configuration (PC, Soundcard or DAW Software). I was able to work last night but this morning I am having big problems. First, I am using Sonar 7 Producer with an M-audio Firewire 410. When I open a project- any project, I get no audio output. The channel meters are not showing activity when the individual wav files are played in any of the channels in a project. I do show midi activity on a midi channel but again, no output of wav files. I know the interface is working as I get output when I tested Guitar Rig 3 in standalone mode. I have checked the channel routing in Sonar and everything looks ok. As I said, it was working last night, but not today. In summary, I am not getting any sort of output in individual tracks or to the master fader in Sonar, and for some reason, I cannot engage the audio engine (I suspect this could be the problem). When I click on the button to start the audio engine, it does not engage.I have tried resetting the program and trying a new project but I get the same result. The correct drivers are showing up in audio options but I can't seem to find the WAV profiler. I went through the help file and it is not located in options-audio-general tab. I know that sometimes dropout can occur if your ASIO settings are not optimized for the system but I am not getting dropout, just no output in Sonar. Sorry for jumping around so much in the description but I want to make sure I include all of the info that I can Any help with this would be greatly appreciated. If I can't get this resolved I guess I will be reinstalling or migrating back to Cubase SX 3. Thanks for all you guys do on here!

Have you rebooted your computer to see if that fixes the problem ?

I get weird problems in windows where a reboot is sometimes required to get my asio working.

I've had this strange problem before as well. I hadn’t changed a thing but all of the sudden - no output from sonar.

The only thing I did to fix it was re-boot a few times also making sure to shut off my audio interface (presonus FP10) when rebooting.

I have rebooted as well as uninstalling the interface and reinstalling. I have also used system restore. None of these worked. I reinstalled Sonar and I still have no output to the channels. One thing I did not mention is that this system is not connected to the internet and is dedicated to audio. The lighter fluid is on standby.

I have no explanation for this but.....the audio engine just decided that it would finally load and now I am getting output to the channels. Now that I have experienced this...I won't be using this program anymore. Cubase SX seems to be a more reliable program. Thanks for the assistance.

I understand from reading the cakewalk boards, that firewire connections can sometimes cause problems. As with any firewire or usb connection, you must have them plugged in and active on your computer before you start sonar. This is the way sonar recognizes your firewire or usb hardware.

I experienced a similar scenario with sonar 8 producer edition. At first, I had a lot of errors occuring, and without changing ANYTHING, things just started to work in order...it's weird.

I use Sonar also and I have a Tascam US1641 I have to boot the computer up first and then turn my Tascam on. If I turn the Tascam on b4 the computer then when the computer boots up it does not find the Tascam. I have to shut the tascam off and turn it back on then the computer finds it.......you might try that....
