Default MIDI to audio

Hey yall, I'm using sonar LE here and I'm trying to convert my MIDI tracks to audio. I have tried a bunch of different soft synths, I can get them to play fine and when I record the midi data they play back fine. When I try to convert them to audio it gives me the error "the specified selection did not contain any audio data". How do I fix this? I followed the directions in the provided tutorial exactly and it gives me this error. Please help me

Before bouncing a track or exporting, press W, F9, F10. This will avoid the "specified selection..." message.

When converting MIDI to audio, the easiest way is simply right-click on the track and select Freeze -> Freeze Synth. Do not make any edits to frozen tracks; always unfreeze, fix and re-freeze.

You can also select the midi track and the synth track and then bounce it to an audio track. If done this way, you can edit the new audio track without freezing and unfreezing.

Cool, the first thing worked. What are these commands doing exactly?

I'm not sure if that freeze command is in my version, I right click on the track and it doesn't give me that as an option.

How do I select them both at the same time?

in order for me to bounce midi to audio i have to set my settings to WDM from ASIO. How you can do that is do not highlight the actual midi recording, but highlight the "track", select edit from the top menu and bounce track to the designated track.

I was successful at doing this after a few days of research..lol..but now the audio track that i bounce wont play back unless its played together with the midi. i'm so confused.

Lovesmetrike, If you hold down the ctrl key you can select multiple tracks.

Mostrequested. You can't bounce midi track info into a new audio track because midi is not audio, it's data. That is why you can't hear anything unless you also have your midi track selected. You are probably just listening to the midi info being processed by your synth.

Midi data must be converted to audio by using one of the above processes discussed earlier in this thread.

If I freeze my track, I cannot compress, or do anything to the track itself. How would I edit, put fx, and pan the tracks on a frozen track?

You have to unfreeze the track to do your editing, then freeze it again. I generally don't go to audio until my midi rendition is exactly where I want it. Your needs may be different. I also don't usually freeze them, I bounce them. If you bounce them then you can edit the track at any time.

I use sonar 8 producer edition and when I use my soft synths, no fx work on any of the midi tracks. I can't even decrease the volume or pan them unless they are converted to audio first.

Midi really doesn't have effects that can be applied, like echo, compression, eq, delay,etc...
but audio does. You should be able to get volume and pan to work. Try this. Open the project with the soft synths, go to Options, Project, Midi Out tab, and uncheck the box that says zero controllers when play stops, or some words to that effect. See if that helps.
