From Mackie Tracktion to Sonar 6.
I was having issues using Mackie Tracktion w/an M-Audio Fastrack USB connected to my new HP laptop (2 Duo CPU 1.83GB , 3.0GB RAM, on a 32-bit platform) w/Vista. I recorded a stereo track from my IPOD into Tracktion, and was trying to play along with it on my guitar, to create side tracks. Well I kept getting an echo when I tried to Playback Track 1 (song), bringing my headphone level up to hear what I was playing guitar on Track 2. The more I tried to bring the level up to where I could hear it better against the song I recorded on Track 1, the worse the echo got. It was really bad.
I spoke with someone here that knows a bit about CPU recording, he thinks it is a Tracktion issue on my laptop. So, I decided to try Sonar 6, and see if I still get the same echo/latency issues. I am in the learning curve phase with Sonar 6, and any helpful hints to avoid this in the future would be greatly appreciated.
