If you can see the drivers for the TASCAM, then in my opinion, you should be able to record or at least hear something. Excuse the obviousness but have you record enabled the track you want to record to?
I have used cubase for a year with no problems,I just bought music creator 4and i use a tascam us 144 for my guitar input via usb and i cant get an input or out out signal.I have the asio drivers on in the AUDIO tab and it shows the us 144 in the input and output section?
while troubleshooting i tried runnin my guitar straight to the line in on soundcard and it worked with the mme drivers but they are latency ridden with echo.
it just seems odd that i can set up to record guitar in cubase but when i try to use music creator i get nothing ????
if anyone can help i will really owe ya one, cause its frustrating!

ya i have it enabled,it shows no inout signal, and i cant even hear an imported wav, file on playback?
My usuall setup is as follows(and has worked fine)
guitar to US 144 to usb
windows vista basic,pentium 4 (3.2 hyperthreading),2gig memory
cubase.
fruity loops for drums,bass etc.
1.i tried the us 144 and ASIO drivers and got nothing.(its my usuall)
2.i unhooked everything! guitar etc. to try a different driver config.(MME)
3.i hooked up guitar straight to line in on back of computer with a 1/4 inch to 1/8 inch reducer jack (now using onboard sound)and used mme drivers in mc4 and had playback sound ok.(but couldnt hear myself playing guitar without real bad latency problems.)
thus i realized the program actually works,so im going back to us144 setup.strictly because of latency issues!
4.I rehook up the guitar to us 144 and plug it into the usb,as stated in 1. reset the settings in mc4 for asio to get it working.and i dont get any sound.thats my main complaint.
the track shows asio us 144 for input and output and in the console view the mains show asio us 144 also?
why wont asio settings and us 144 produce sound?
i got it !!!it was an older version of asio that was hurtin me.
thanks..
So the problem is sorted out? Everything working as you want it to?
