I think Charles is still trying to figure out that manual........'cause he's not on here...

Anyway, my 2 cents:

I moved from cubase. Sonar and Cubase are very different apps. but for that reason I hated it at first and cursed my decision to move. I mostly played with Ableton instead, and would force myself to use Sonar from time to time to get used to it because I knew how powerful it was if I just got past the initial curve.

Now I LOVE IT.....and the new version 8.5 PE....wow, don't even need Ableton anymore as they have added a new Matrix view which is almost the same.

Hang in there Charles.....you WILL get hooked.

Thanks DMMI,
Yes, I'm still around, been swamped with work, that's why I haven't replyed, sorry. Business comes first. I'm glad to hear that you have settled in with Sonar. I have been able to do quite a bit with the software, by just using it, and learning from all my mistakes. I have upgraded to Sonar PE 8.5. I know I will never use all the good bells and whistles that it has, but should I ever need something, I will have it in place. I am pleased with the progress I have made since my last reply, and I do think the product is good,...... in the hands of an expert, it can really go.

Thanks

Charles

Question Re: Getting Started With Sonar

I've noticed on this forum, that everone uses a handle, or a different name.
Is this something I need to address?

haha....no Charles, it's all about personality.

Some people pick something to refelect a mood, image, or anything...

I know you as Charles now...I would keep that

But of course there are many opinions!!

Another vote for Scott's book. I am totally new to digital recording, but have many years playing and messing with analog multitrack. I purchased Scott's book and it has been a reat help, now I just need to get some time back to work in the "studio". Another thing, Scott's book has a great index and that alone is worth the price of admission!
