Default audio drivers either do not support the current audio format

So new to this shit. Here's my dilemma. Click on Sonar to start and this audio driver error message pops up. Says, and I quote, `` the following audio drivers either do not support the current audio format or are in use by another application. They are all realtek HD audio : rear output(wave rt)1half audio
rear output(wave rt)three quarters
rear output(wave rt) five sixths
audio mike input, audio line input, and audio stereo input(all wave rt). Gives me an option to disable or use them anyway. What do I do. I can`t transfer files from the tascam onto the program once it fires up. They will play on my media player, but error message says they are not compatible with this version of sonar. Can`t really afford an interface for the pc just yet but was hoping to fool around until I got one. Somebody help me. Lord knows I need it.

I'm not a Sonar guy, but I would expect your current audio format to be fine unless you are recording a sample rates your stock soundcard does not accept. I'd make sure you are recording at 44.1 Khz and 16 bit and see if that solves the problem.

I'd also double check to make sure that no other software is running that could be using those drivers (possibly Media Player).

Thank you Brandon. I'll give it a try. Kids are over though so I'll go at it later

Hi all,
I have Sonar 7 Producer. I am setting up Edirol M16DX digital mixer. I get the
"Audio driver not compatible with current format" error. I'm guessing the default sample rate of the mixer is 48khz and sonar is set to 44.1khz as the wave profile show 48khz as the only one availble. I can't seem to find how to change the mixer sample rate. Any ideas?

Hello. Oh dear, I am worse than a beginner, I am still in the garden of Eden from an audio point of view. Am trying to get a travel podcast off the ground and purchased the podcasting kit co3u from Samson with Sonar LE
I barely seem able to get one foot in the door, let alone "on with it".

Problem one - see title. The only application I am invited to choose is "USB Audiogerät" which translates as "audio equipment" ...(this is a German computer and I live in Berlin). I am asked to choose if I want to disable it or use it anyway.
Is it possible, ehem, that I have slotted the USB cable into the wrong computer socket?

Problem two - "You have not selected any midi outputs". Oh really? What are those then?

Would be eternally grateful for any advice here - remember you are addressing an audio nit-twit!
Peter

sgn - the USB Audiogerat means it is an USB audio tool so it is quite possibly seeing your interface.

RAB65 - sounds like you audio card is the culprit, go through audio card setup in Sonar and see if there are other drivers available for it. You can also try ASIO4ALL drivers, they work on most generic audio interfaces.

Adorian, I have the exact same audio set-up as RAB65 does, I got the same error messages, your answser was the fix. I changed to the ASIO driver in the Sonar set up and it all works. Thanks you have been a great help.

In Sonar somewhere there is a place where you define where the stereo outs go. (Sorry, I'm a Cubase guy.) You need to make sure this is set to your soundcard.
