Default Audio Drivers

Hello,

I have been using sonar for awhile now but with my dad's setup so I decided to go buy my own MIDI Keyboard and sonar.

I have encountered some problems (not unexpected.. There's always problems), I opened up my USB MIDI Keyboard and plugged it in, installed sonar (Sonar 6 Producer edition) and just clicked a key, the lights on the keyboard sign in the taskbar lit up telling me it works.

I inserted a Cake Walk synth and set it up and clicked a button... No sound.
I went to Options > Audio > Drivers but no drivers display. Im using Logitech 5.1 surround sound speakers and I was wondering if anyone could help me with my problem.

Thanks in advance, Kaine

PS: Im going away from tomorrow up untill the next wednesday so I won't be on (GMT10+ Time)

This might be a solution to what seems to be a common problem with a lot of users who are dealing with a fresh install of Sonar. I hope it is anyway...

In the audio options dialog box, did you happen to make sure to run the "Wave Profiler" so that Sonar becomes aware of your sound card/audio interface? If not, try that, and see if that solves your problem.

It that doesn't work, let me/us know, and we'll figure it out.

Good luck,

Thanks in Advance - Kaine

Really? That's unusual. Is this the same PC your dad uses? Or, is it your own laptap or desktop?

What kind of sound card or audio interface are you using? This is quite important. It doesn't really matter what kind of speakers you have hooked up, but the sound card/audio interface does.

Also, after you load a soft synth into Sonar's synth rack and try to play your keyboard, are you making sure that you are clicking the little "MIDI echo" button (looks like: "))))" )in the track view so that you can hear your sounds played back in real time?

Take a look at these things, and we'll go from there.

Good luck,

This is my own PC, thered be no point in buying myself a midi keyboard if I were to use the other PC as I could just use my dads. The Echo is on, and even if its not you should still be able to the level of the sound. If you read through my earlier post you will have realised that it has absolutely nothing to do with my keyboard or the settings related to the keyboard. I can't get any sound drivers for the in or out to appear, therefore no sound will come out even if it is set up correctly.

Now thats said, the sound card.. hmm... This is a new PC and I havn't even bothered to look at the sound card.. I will see if I can find out but as I said im not at home until wednesday so we might have to wait untill than.

Thanks for your help - Kaine

Just trying to cover all bases I can think of...Sorry if I had forgotten parts of your original post as I was writing a response. Good luck.

=D

I have got the drivers to display but now I have another problem
MY keyboard works but there is a delay in between the time I press a key and the time the sound plays. I lowered the buffer size in Options > Audio and there is less of a delay but if I lower it down any further the noise distorts. Any solutions?

Kaine

MIDI doesn't use ASIO. What MIDI device do you route the signals to ?
