Default tutorials

I've been lecturing IT Engineering for about 5 years and before that I taught high school kids. In my short time here at Recording Review I've noticed a lot of people (especially newbies) asking the same questions over and over again. The teacher in me is wondering if it wouldn't be a good idea to have a few basic tutorials that we could refer people to to aid them in a way that is easier to understand. I've looked around the site briefly and I dont see anything so I was wondering if this has ever been a thought or has there never been a need for it?

This has DEFINITELY been thought of.

There are two kinds of tutorials. There's the troubleshooting kind like "how to route an audio interface in Cubase". Then there is the audio engineering kind.

The latter is a bit more complicated to teach, but is something I figured would have to be tackled in future products or a collective community effort.

Many of these "same questions" will be addressed in Killer Home Recordings. In fact, the major idea behind starting Killer Home Recordings was to give answers to the same questions that everyone seems to have at one point or another in a context where a person could get the "big picture".

I'll tell you what. I just created Needed Tutorials so people can make a list of all the tutorials they'd like to see here. From there we can start cranking these out.

Thanks for being a huge help, dude!

Yeah I wasn't suggesting anything complicated but rather just simple "how to's". Ive noticed lately that a lot of people have problems with signal flow and how to connect up an interface. Recently someone posted a thread complaining that he could not get any sound from his newly purchased interface. Turns out he was plugging the outs into the mic in of his laptop. It might seem like a simple thing to you and I but for someone starting out, it can be lot more complicated.

Looking forward to the book!
