Hey Brandon,

It's a great idea, however I don't think you have to bribe or attempt to motivate the people that use these boards. I'd be willing to bet most of us (if not all of us) would fill out a form at each song posting no problem, because that's why are all here, to get the most mileage out out whatever equipment we have.

Managing the data really wouldn't be all that difficult with mysql/php, and as it's what I do (web designer/programmer by trade), so if you need some help figuring it out, let me know.

I think it would be awesome to be able to view "song notes" on each recording to really understand how they got a certain effect/sound at a given point in a song..

Yeah, you are probably right, dude. As time goes by, I see time and time again that people are here because they WANT to be here. Even if only a fraction of the people take the time to fill out the extra info, that info is still worth its wait in gold.

When time allows I will definitely do this!

Brandon

I would be up for this but I will have to get myself into the habit of taking notes during recording. Yes, I list what instrument is on which channel but after that I kinda get lost in the 'process' and forget to keep track of where I'm at. Very unprofessional I know but then, who said I was a professional.
I would be up for supplying a list of gear used tho'.

This sounds like a great idea, and would [possibly] reduce the number of what does this mic sounds like kinda of threads that pop up in the forums.

If you make the form optional that way if people feel like sharing they can, those who dont obviosly get banned for life :|

I like the idea here. Has some definite potential.

Obviously it has to wait until you have more time to devote to it, Brandon, but it would be a feature that could really set the forum even further apart from most of the rest of the recording sites.

This was kind of the idea that I had behind the thread Worlds biggest drum mic shoot out. I think a lot of people have learned a pile of info off of it. I'd be game to fill out the info. A reward for listening and responding to the recordings may be more appropriate then a reward for filling out the form.

this would be a good idea and a good reference for people, It might be a little extra work but hey if where here we know all about work so a little extra wont hurt us but better us in the long run. good idea. i think a more detailed questionaire would work also, with us putting in everything that was used from start to finish including plugins, almost giving an inside look into the production.
