Notice: Would You Be Willing To....

I have an idea that could be insanely powerful for RecordingReview.com (and the universe), but I don't know if people would want to do it.

Would you be willing to fill out information on every track you add? In other words, would you be willing to fill out a form where you enter all the mics used on a recording?

Would it be too much to ask?

Kick drum mic:
Snare drum mic:
Toms mic:
Overheads mic:
Bass mic:
Guitars mic:
Vocals mic:

I could take this info and do some very powerful things if people would be willing to take the extra time to fill out a form.

I could take it a step further and talk about audio interface used, preamps, plugins, etc if people wanted to.

I think that's a great idea! But maybe only when it's requested? If everyone did the same form thought it would make it real easy to reference!!!

I mean for example I am now looking for a vocals mic, so everytime I hear a mix I feel like asking what mic they used, or also it would help begginers (like me) to have a reference of what their (our) mic should sound like at its best. I say this cause I have only recently been able to get good sound out of my mics and was beggining to wonder if it was the mics or the mix. So yeah as long as its optional, it sounds like a great idea!

You are dead on! The idea is for a dude looking for a new mic to click on the "Audio Technica AT 4050" link and get a list of 17 songs that have used the AT 4050. Of course, there will be a billion mics in the database eventually, but this is okay.

I'm testing a "points" system on my local server for recoridngreview that can reward for people posting, reviewing songs, etc. Maybe I can set it up so that a person gets more points for telling us more about the song.

I'm not sure. I could do all sorts of things. I guess I need to figure out how to motivate a person to give extraneous amounts of information. I'll have to think about that.
