Default No Results - Soundcard Wizard

If try the Home Recording Soundcard Wizard and do not receive any results, odds are strong that there is no possible audio interface that meets your REQUIRED criteria.

In almost every case, this caused by a person who selects all three digital input styles (S/PDIF, AES, and ADAT) as being REQUIRED.

If you go through the Advanced Wizard (once you understand all of the terms) and only select your requirements you should get results.

Default Help for beginner

Hi Folks
As a beginner I could take some advice on a the prospective purchase of a Focusrite Saffire Pro 40 to enable me to record bands live on my PC laptop via Nuendo 3. It only has 8 mic pre-amps so I guess I would have to add more mic amps at some stage or buy a mixer? Is this the right kind of kit for me? Any thoughts from you guys that have done it all before? Vic

I wouldn't go with the mixer in this case. Instead I'd take a look at this .

Of course, the audio interface you select must have ADAT inputs in order to utilize it.

Hello,
Just now getting into recording live music(Small groups I play with)

Not sure if I want an "All-in one" Recorder with it's own HD - Like the looks and things I've heard about the Yamaha AW1600. This would eleiminate needing to drag a computer to recording sessions.

Another option is a used Yamaha 01V Digital Mixer with and "Optical I/O" card already installed. This led me to this site, because I will need a universal PCI
card for my computer that will take these optical (ADAT Lightpipe)conections.
Nobody seems to talk much about optical "Lightpipe" connections for PC or MAC. Can I Do Mutitrack Recording at the same level as say a Firewire connection to a PC or Laptop? It would be nice to be able to support 24bit recording.

A 3rd option is the new Yamaha n12 firewire mixer. ANY THOUGHTS ON THESE? Obviosly the mixer route is the most versatile.
THANK YOU.

Hello everyone! I am brand new to this forum and I love recording music. I am currently using an e-mu 1820m for an interface and i was curious to see the options with the Soundcard Wizard. I am looking forward to this online experience.

What trouble are you having exactly? That Tascam and a decent micrphone should be all you need to make good music with your instruments. Are you having trouble getting the tascam to work, or learning the software, or what?

Hey, I was trying out your site for the first time. Just punched in hypothetical config for Soundcard Wizard. I only chose: 8 inputs, PCI card, AES, and Mac. Came up empty.
Good luck with your stuff. I look forward to interacting with you guys.
