ya, thats the problem. somehow, you've got "png image file" in this script and there is no image 4 the browser 2 boot... then it sees the mp3 and cannot handle it cuz it's a lo priority, so it passes this duty on to the o.s. which i.d.'s it as a file to be extracted from the source code. not sure how u got this screw'd but i'm reacting to the spins just the same as chris -i don't usually dl files b4 i preview... and thats y i'm there is 2 preview and give sum fb... the files that require dl won't get my attention. sorry brandon. wish i could b of sum help with ur task... just holla if ya think i can.. i do write code...

I've done some investigating. Nothing is broken. It's just the system has a very weird system for dealing with attachments. The script is top shelf stuff and I'd expect them to have very solid reason for doing it this way.

I'll get it fixed soon. I've got some tricks. I just have to figure out how to implement them.

Okay, after starting 3 different threads on 3 different forums about this, I got the word. There is no way to stream from attachments.

I've got 3 possible plans. I'll have to make sure that I have them ready for the Thanksgiving Song Contest

While I'm willing to take the credit, I just bitched on a bunch of forums until someone wrote the code out. I've done quite a bit of php work, but I'm clueless when it comes to writing code for a vBulletin forum.

This solves my short term problem.

Now I just need to figure out how to faciliate contests (like the Thanksgiving song).

Me too, then you should already have the tools to 'hack' vBulletin by viewing it's templates, php files, etc.

The last edition of DarkTown Studios was run using PHP and accessing a phpBB forum, along with new code functions of course. I just screwed it up because I hadn't made it portable, so when it required updating, a few things would change and i'd have to recode certain things. Now, I don't have a lot of time to set it back up and rewrite, so it's slow to return. This time I want to make the code free from phpBB updates.

I don't understand this statement. What do you want to accomplish?

Yeah, I have the tools. The problem is the vbulletin system is kind of it's own unique thing. It's a very good system, but not one that I've had the time to learn.

Well, first I have to figure out how I want to determine the "winner". Again, I hate the idea of songs competing, but at the same time a contest is a competition. If I'm giving away a prize to motivate people to "enter", than I need to figure out how a person wins. Maybe it's votes? Maybe it's an average rating? I don't know. Maybe we do a tournament sort of thing.

I hate the idea of a person being told that one song is better than another song. I love competition, but music isn't really a competition. Who am I to say that one song is "better" than the other? I guess we could just take the perspective of picking the song we like better.

Of course, this has it's drawbacks too. It makes it a popularity contest. At this point, the prize is small enough that I don't think anyone would really care if they didn't win, but if this goes well, I would seriously look into increasing the prize.

I don't know. Maybe I'm overthinking it.

After all these decisions are made, I think need a software / scripting solution that can handle all of them. In the end, I see RecordingReview.com having a profile system not totally different than MyWaste.
