Default How Do I Use The Forums?

Using the forums is easy with a bit of instruction.

First let's go over a few definition.
Thread – A “thread” is a new topic or question that you, the user, create and then people discuss the issue below you. When you find the appropriate category, you can then create a “thread” you give it a title and then write your message.

Post – A post is a response to a thread. It essentially works the same way as creating a new thread but you don't give a title or select a category. You simply respond to what is already there.

Creating New Threads
To create a new thread, visit the forum home and take a look at all the possible categories to post in (Bash This Recording, Audio Engineer, etc).

Click on one of the categories.

You'll then see a list of subcategories (if applicable for that category) and then you'll see threads that already exist which you are free to reply to (we'll get into that in a minute). Just above the threads you'll see a blue button on the left side that says “New thread”.

Click on “New Thread” write a title and message and click “Submit New Thread”.

Replying To Threads

To reply to a thread, first visit the thread you would like to reply to.

On the left side, you'll see a blue button that says “Reply”.

Click on it.

Type your message and hit “Submit Reply”.

Brandon, It seems that new members are occasionally having trouble working out how to upload files to the forum. I Was thinking that maybe you could add a small tutorial for new member's to read that informs them of how to upload files.
Its basically this thread {your post not mine} with the added information about uploading a file and then making it easier for new members to find.

Thats my opinion, Thanks, superpete.

Possibly a "HELP" forum under the misc. crap section but make sure [try to anyway] that people know that this if for forum specific help.

It might work, it might not.

Hey there.
Click new thread or reply and type your message as you normally would.
Once you have yoyr messaged typed scroll down the page a little and select, "Manage attachments" a popup window will then open and you can browns your computer for the file you wish to upload.
Once selected click on upload, wait for the file to upload
close the window and submit your post.

hope that makes sense, im pretty tired so i cant be bothered proof reading it

If you are still have problem post again and i will make some screen shots so you can see what you are meant to be doing.

Good luck.

Thanks superpete, that made total sense. My problem was always using the quick reply option so I never saw any attachment option

Sorted now, thanks.

I fully agree! Not sure why my avatar would not upload:

200 X 167
32KB

Maybe upper and lower limits should be shown for avatars permitted???

Thanks! :-)

Whatever you do, don't "browns" your computer. It smells bad, can gunk up your works, and never wins you any dates with hawt girls.

Well, not any "hawt" girls that don't come bringing their own cup or something.....

Hi,

I'm new to this forum. It's great for what I experimented! The only problem is that I'm supposed to be able to download a file for a specific thread (Bass drum mic tests) but I can't find the file to download. I've already suscribed to the forum and many people seem to have seen this file. Is there a SPECIAL TRICK to download files or is there a URL link that I didn't see.

Sorry about this stupid question....

Thanks a lot!
