Default Gear Reviews "expiration"

I was wondering...Shouldn't the gear reviews be stickied up or something, because if they disappear after 10 days or whatever the default drop off time is, people will never know they exist. It difficult to expect a contnuous thread to follow a gear review, but when people, especially newbies are looking for a specific piece of gear, they won't know the review exists.

I didn't know threads had a "drop off time". Posts are always sorted in order, but you can always access the super old threads.

I would like to add a way to nagivate the reviews through the usual category bread crumbs, but this would take some serious effort to implement and I don't think it would be worth the time.

So far, the best way to find reviews is through searching or through usual forum discussion as product names are automatically linked to their review page most of the time.

Well I didn't know threads disappeared either, until I was looking for my Lexicon review. I could access it by some routes and not by others. I finally realized I was set up to only see threads newer than 10 days. Then they disappear. This is adjustable in the User Control Panel:

Quote:
Default Thread Age Cut OffYou may specify a time period from which to display threads. Threads older than the age you specify will not be shown. Use Forum Default Show threads from last day Show threads from last 2 days Show threads from last week Show threads from last 10 days Show threads from last 2 weeks Show threads from last month Show threads from last 45 days Show threads from last 2 months Show threads from last 75 days Show threads from last 100 days Show threads from last year Show all threads
Since I never set it, I assume the default is 10 days.

So a person looking for a review will never know it exists if there hasn't been activity.

Okay, I've done some research and it appears that my default setting for all threads is "Show All Threads". The default settings for users is "use default". So I'm really confused as to why you couldn't view your post.
