Regulation is probably not the most solicitous approach. If posters are encouraged to do all the creative heavy lifting they are capable of, then it's reasonable for them to ask for feedback. If it doesn't amount to anything of consequence, then that should be said, hence "Bash This Recording."

That's great Vulcon, very helpful! Thanks for doing this!

Sorry, but I have to disagree with you here. Regulation *can* be a good thing, as it brings order to chaos.

Of course. I'm not suggesting for one moment that one shouldn't ask for feedback when they've reached the end of their journey, or even along the way, just that the various stages of assistance should be separated a bit, so that one gets the right kind of help at the right stage.

The big problem for me is the one-track mind problem. I can not hear more than 2 problems in a mix at once usually. (Give or take). If 2 things are bothering, I go fix those two things and listen again.

I don't know if anyone else feels this way, but it makes it very difficult for me to judge other elements of a song when there are known flaws.

Absolutely, I'm very much the same way. If I create a mix and I hear some flaws in it (even if no one else will notice) I *have* to go fix those flaws before I try to improve the mix because I'll get stuck on them and can't get past them, which kinda was my original complaint at the beginning of this thread...

If some posts an unfinished mix, I can't be objective about the mix because I get stuck on the fact that it's unfinished and really might needs a "songwriting/creative" mindset rather than a "mix/polish" mindset.

Hence, I don't want to be in the "mix/polish" mindset and have to wade through tons of unfinished stuff, it's counter/productive for me and I can't be objective and helpful.

Wow, can I rant or what? lol.
