Default What If The Recording Book Wasn't A Book?

Hello all,

I've been doing LOTS of thinking as to how I want to handle the home recording book. On last count, we were sitting at about 600 pages, but I've worked to make it more concise and trip out some of that fat.

The long story short is I'm wondering what you guys would think if instead of maxing out a credit card and using up an entire room in my house for storage if we went the route of an ebook or even a Mega Member's Only area?

I can think of a few benefits of the Mega Member's Only area.
  • Instant Access - There is no shipping
  • No shipping costs
  • No inventory for me
  • Lower costs for you
  • No maxing out credit card for me
  • Easily updated, added to, improved on
  • Easy to integrate with audio and/or video examples.

The only down side is a digital version would be harder to read in the bathroom.

What do you think?

Brandon

you should do both, because obviously the e-book would be in more demand, but some prefer the hard copy. i'd probably by the ebook first then the hardbook soon afterwards - but i always do prefer a physical copy i can take with me when i go around.

I read pr0n in the bathroom, so it's good for me....

Actually, sounds like you're just making full use of the technology available to you man. Also, think of the trees you'll be saving.

Grats on a good idea.

I'd prefer a hard copy, but I'd get it in any format it was offered in.
Reading on the toilet is a big plus though.

I actually have a monitor encased in the wall of my bathroom. So e-book all the way

I think the ebook is a good idea, however, to be honest I hate reading on the computer unless I have to. Then again, when do I read real books either... Maybe you can make an Amazon Kindle version and I'll use my wifes, haha, although that's possible with converting a PDF, so nevermind.

E-book for me! I'd just print it out if I wanted too. But I do agree, I like to read hard copies instead of sit at the computer.

Brandon,
I prefer an ebook most of the time. If I need a hard copy, I'll print it and put it in a 3 ring binder.

Hey Brandon,

A question for you, as you mentioned you don't want to max out a CC for printing costs..

Pardon my dumb question, but isn't that a job for the distributor? Aren't you getting it published through a publishing co? I would think they would handle all of that stuff.

I realize that an e-book would be easier on you, but it certainly won't be as satisfying as having a hard copy in your hands, and I have to agree with others on here, I really don't want to do my tech reading on the 'puter, I want to notate, highlight, dog ear a book..

Guess what....
Yup PDF all the way. I can always print off the pages I want to study more or scribble on or take into the studio as a reference.
