There are lots of crazy people in the world. Some of them very intelligent. Forgive me for not checking out his book, but I believe you. And for those of you who poke fun at hell, be very assured, there is no beer there. I think the crossover line is different for many people, but not for those of us with noble character. We all have a grasp on between what's right and wrong, just some of us respond to it or not. But, we know...

(2) The nicer they are, the more abuse they bear (3) Americans and Pommies ... goodness what strange creatures be they .. whereas Canadian's .. they're almost normal. (4) In the beginning, GOD said; Let there be radiation. Then he did a bunch of other stuff culminating in matter and then the earth (according to a particular line of thinking to which I do not agree.) And he made it rain and stuff .. brought forth junk and made creatures ... and especially eyes .. how else could something so complicated appear instantaneously out of thin air? (I really am bad...) ... anyway ... then he saw that the earth was good and so were most of the animals .. except for those stupid, stupid Cobra ... and he sat back on his .. whatever? and felt quite pleased with himself. He rested for a few GOD moments and then 20 million years later (after a few GOD moments) he realized that all was NOT good. GOD waved his hands over the face of the earth and created a land for himself .. GOD's land ... he called this land AUSTRALIA and he said unto the creatures of the earth ... those cool enough shall find themselves basking the sun of MY LAND .... Ahhhhhhh its GOOD to be us ... P.S. I'm in for whatever you decide to do Brandon. |

Heres a link for $4.75 t shirts, they claim no minimum. Who can do a cool graphic? I'll buy one. I'll buy a hat too. If you call me a "Recording God" I'll give you $25 for a cool t-shirt. I like the long sleeve black ones best.

Okay, it's time to bring this topic back up. I've obtained the necessary mods for this paypal junk and I've been thinking about the 50/50 split.
I'm wondering if this is really going to increase the number of donations. Granted, I want to give back to those who give in the first place, but if I actually thought this site was worth donating to, would I be inclined to give more simply because there was a 50/50 drawing? It almost seems like "Oh, I'm gonna be nice and help Brandon out with hosting costs! Wait, I forgot that I have a MASSIVE gambling addiction! If I give DOUBLE then maybe I'll REALLY win something awesome". The only thing is I need more than double the income to merit the worth of the prize if it's a 50/50 drawing. I guess I'm debating whether the 50/50 drawing is much of an incentive. What if it was just a flat $100 Musiciansfriend gift card (The prize would accomodate to those who in countries where Musiciansfriend is not possible)? Brandon

I think $100 is a great incentive. A 50/50 split really defeats the purpose of fundraising. Giving away half of the proceeds? That's too much loss for too little gained. (I'm actually not certain a 50/50 drawing is legal. Not that anyone's gonna rat on you.) You've got some friends here Brandon; it's time to hit em up for some of the green stuff.

The Musiciansfriend card sounds good, although I personally would rather pay $25 for a cool Recording Review t-shirt that you could probably buy for under $10. Or how about nothing...how about we just donate a contribution to the cause of keeping this website open and know that we have a kick ass avenue to share, grow, ...hang.
Why don't you just make a "contribute now" page and see how much flow you start getting. You haven't even tried to poke your proud little hand out to ask for help have you?.... Last edited by pdalmolin : 07-08-2008 at 03:46 PM. |
