Here's the deal RecordingReview.com members. The hosting bill for RecordingReview.com just went up by 20x. What did cost me $100 per year now costs approximately $200 per month. Ouch! Granted, the new server is going to allow me to do some VERY powerful things which we'll get into soon, but for the time being I'm getting hit with a substantial bill.
I hate begging, but everyone likes to gamble. So what if we did a raffle? Each ticket sells for $2 or 3 tickets for $5. The only question is “What do you win?”. For that I have no answer. I prefer to be generous, but it wouldn't make sense to throw a fundraiser that loses money. (That sounds like a government thing). It would be cooler if I had even the slightest clue what this would bring in and then I could give away a Shure SM7 or something. One possibility is to give 50% of income back to the winner in the form of a MusiciansFriend gift certificate. So what do you guys think? This sure beats begging but it still doesn't sit right with my robo capitalist views. So I'm Joseph Stalin for a day. Give me! Ha ha

Sounds cool to me, Brandon. You could always see if Apple would donate an IPod or something. Or some other sponsor for something cool. Maybe they'll participate in exchange for a small ad/link on the homepage?
For those of you abroad, since the 50/50 split would come to you as a Musicians Friend "gift card" you should have no problem receiving or spending it - since it's all on the web anyway. Very cool idea. Perhaps you could do a monthly or quarterly promotion (especially if you can get a sponser) since your expenses would be on-going. Just a thought. |

GREAT IDEA. I would beg you to make this idea reality.
