Hello Brandon and to the Forum...1st..I would like to thank Brandon for saving me BIG money on a mic pre-amp...you all remember what a stirr that was before the holidays took presedent? Mic-pre's and the $$$ they cost!!!
I did not spend thousands on the mic pre I thought I wanted, but took Brandon's advice (over much debate on the forum) to look at less expensive but quality pre's(I spent $400 @ Musician's Friend...was $500 everywhere else, Musician's Friend Brandon's sponsership? or something..but, Musician's Friend had a great sale going on, on a Presonus M20 Pre-amp which I bought)... I am 100% satified with my new pre..my concern was mostly with micing Guitars but also, Vox...real good results so far, and I've only just begun... Coincidentily, I have been in the process of writing a recording book myself...so I can not offer title suggestions to you Brandon, but I will continue to give you praise when deserved, and critisisum when needed... I will, though, be anticipating the release of your book, as I think it will help all interested in recording, especially the Home recording musician...I own several recording books and few can deliver everything there is to recording, but all have given me something valuable, even if it's only one paragraph out of 200 pages that makes the $20 or $30 I spent well worth it... Example... the use of an Expander...the explaination of what an Expander is and why it is very valuable to the guitarist during loud, heavy guitar recordings...Most people don't even know what a Expander is or what use it has..... O.K. I'll leave it at that, another topic for discussion, who knows what an Expander is, anyone? Have any of you used one? If so, why did you use it? What is the opposite of an Expander? Chances are, you all have uded the opposite, but never the topic at hand, the Expander... Let's run with it... |

I'm not sure about England, but in America "cans" are also slang for "boobies" so this phrase has a triple meaning! Brandon

Hey Brandon
I've been putting together a new home studio using Magix as the core. I'll be posting my results seeing what develops. I read your email regarding your book, I understand I've been compiling a book myself. It takes alot of focus and determination from beginning to completion, but it's so worth it when it is done. So one name I have as a potential for you is: "Mixed Emotions" with a subtitle like "Home Recording through the eyes and ears of Brandon Drury" Chew on it see what comes up! Peace Jack |
