Default Home Recording Book - Title suggestions?

Hello all,

I hope to have my first book finished and released by January. I've never written a book before and I must admit that organizing so much data is A LOT harder than just writing a article every once in a while.

Anyway, it's important that I come up with a good name for this thing. While I have no delusions of making millions with this book, the income from it will be the springboard I use to turn this into a supersite. At least that is the idea.

The goal of the book is to get anyone in the beginner / intermediate stages up to "the level". In other words, why waste a month reading stupid forum posts when you can figure out exactly what gear you need by reading a chapter? Why spend months and months researching preamps if I can convince you to spend your time on a killer monitoring setup. The idea behind the book is right inline with this website, I just want a convenient, organized way of combining everything into one source without the need for the search button.

Here are a few brainstorming ideas:

6 Years Of Home Recording In X00 Pages
Quit Wasting Time: A No BS Explanation Of Home Recording
Making Kick Ass Recordings On An Ass Budget
700 Songs Later: What I Should Have Been Told About Home Recording
Don't Record Music Without This Dumb Book

Any ideas?

Brandon

Not a bad name, but it sounds too much like a manual. It doesn't have enough of my kind attitude. (If only I could get away with "Fuck You! Read This Recording Book" I'd do it in a second). Hmmm. I wonder if "F%@^ You! Read This Recording Book" would sell. Probably not.

I like where this is going. Although, I do like the concise nature of the short title, I believe it's a thing of the past. The description of of the book is the title. Just looking at my Christmas list, nearly every book I have on the list has a LONG title. Not that I give a damn about following conventions, I can see from a search engine standpoint alone who "keyword stuffing" a title is effective. Maybe I can add to it.

War Against the Weak: Eugenics and America’s Campaign to Create a Master Race

Reagan and the Economy: The Successes, Failures, and Unfinished Agenda

Nietzsche, Godfather of Fascism?: On the Uses and Abuses of a Philosophy

Five Families: The Rise, Decline, and Resurgence of America’s Most Powerful Mafia Empires

Nietzsche, Prophet of Nazism: The Cult of the Superman–Unveiling the Nazi Secret Doctrine

I like the cocky attitude of this one. I like the the "only book" and "volume one" joke as well. Very Good. I'll capitalize it to see how it looks.

The Only Book You'll Ever Need For Home Recording: Volume One

Not bad!

I've got another one:
Everything Recording School Should Teach You For 30/15,000 The Price

Hmm.

Oh, you like longer titles. How about...

"If you don't know the stuff in this book, you don't know shit, and that means you need to buy this book so that you do know your shit. Dig?"

That describes me and I am big on buying books on new subjects that I am trying to learn. I always pick up the books that let me know it is "basic from the start" material. I always look for something that is going to start at the beginning and gradually work up to the complicated stuff.

The "Level" books always seem to grab my attention. So if I see a level 1, level 2 and level 3 edition, I know I can start with level 1 and work my way up to the other books with more complicated stuff.

I have never bought a "For Dummies" or "For Idiot's" book however. Those are way too basic even though I know nothing about the subject. Those should read "For Hillbillies who have never come down from the mountain and have not graduated second grade".

so use words like "A beginners guide to..." or "Everything you need to know..." or "Home recording in plain english..."

I like the brash approach to "Buy this fukin book if you want to really learn this shit" but if you want to actually sell copies you might want to reconsider.

Agreed. I wonder if I would buy a book with that title. Probably not. These days I don't buy a book unless it has a Swastika on it.
