no, I think he's referring to the "Recording Reviews" forum category, not the website domain. I think it's fine, but didn't it used to be called "Bash this Mix"? I kinda miss that... ~k

Hi Brandon, Just to throw a cat amongst the pigeons . . . . Some time back you had the "recording review" forum split in two sections: 1. Bash this Mix ie. give me some feedback regarding the quality and production of my mix. - too much bass, cymbals too loud, compression, phasing issues etc... 2. Bash this Song (If memory serves me correctly) ie. What do you think of this "song" - arrangement, choice of instruments, vibe etc... Now if you change it to "Bash this Recording" does this include: Microphone placement/choice, Studio Acoustics, Analog/Digital etc... I thought it was ok when it was split into the two section, but I guess you have your reasons for combining them. I guess it can become confusing. Perhaps before you do change it, it would be good to know what others think. Cheers, Steve. |

I consider it wide open and everything is game, from the tones, to the mix, to the arrangement, to the performances and the song. ??

At one time there was Bash This Mix (which I also liked the name) and Bash This Song. I merged the two together mainly because the two are inseperable. I believe that was a good move. Now the problem is I'm having trouble placing "Recording Reviews" (not RecordingReview.com) on tshirts, advertisements, etc. I considered changing it back to Bash This Mix (which feels good to me) but it doesn't feel as comprehensive as it should. The domain name: RecordingReview.com is definitely going to stay! Quote:

No, I'm pretty sure that everything is obscure about a recording studio to a non-musician. Many of them mistake it as a place that is "fun" and "magical", but we all know that is a load of crap. |

too many big words.... IDEA::: why don't you put a sticky in the thread for submissions, telling the artist (person who sumits a recording for "bashing") to be specific about what aspects they feel unsure about? or something along those line. if you have the people who are submiting material clear about what information they should provide so that the community can be more helpful when listening and offerening advice. ??? what do you think? |
