they do make them. the transformer almost doubles the price of the mic. it's gotta be worth it though. those guys at lundahl really care about their products

Haha, that's gotta be a task in amongst itself.
Anyone got a good pre for ribbons? Something not to expensive? I know True makes a single channel ribbon pre. I've used their Precision 8's on drums. very nice.

What would you suggest garageband?

I found the R121 to be pleasant on the clean tracks and the Fathead II to be pleasant on the distorted tracks. Go figure. I could definitely hear the timbral differences, with the Fathead II emphasizing some of the lows and the R121 had a sort of sheen in the highs, which may be the explanation for my preference. It's kind of like dessert. Should I order the cheesecake or the apple pie? I think both mics would have their uses, although I'm not in a hurry to purchase either one.

The Summit 2BA-221 is nice on ribbons. I have a Millenia HV-3C for the high-gain chores now-a-days, but it's not what I'd call inexpensive. The Presonus Eureka isn't bad.
