This has been a pretty slow year, but the good music that HAS come out has been awesome. Titus Androncius' debut is incredible, The Hold Steady released yet another spectacular album, and Girl Talk's recent effort is his best yet. The new Raconteurs isn't too bad either. What have you guys been diggin'? |

It just occured to me that 2008 is half over and not one friend has recommended that I check out a band this year. I guess I'm officially out of the modern music loop. I can't even think of an album that came out in 2008. Not one. Brandon |

| Haha, yeah I would say that qualifies you as 'out of the loop'.

I keep meaning to go to our local indi store to get some of my friends albums (I believe in supporting them rather than asking for a free copy!)... Anyone into Gypsy Jazz? Local guy... new album. Can't say I've ever been into Reinhardt before, but I love this. The playing is absolutely exceptional. Duane Andrews | Guitarist (click on the radio to listen to some tracks) For something more rock based... I had something to do with this one (played trumpet and did some editing), but it was produced by a pretty big Canadian name... Hawkesley Workman. Again, local group. Blown away with the quality of the release. I didn't really have a whole lot to do with the album itself, just recording the horn parts so the quality was a bit of surprise when I heard it. Hey Rosetta! (you can listen to all tracks when in the site) |

Introducing Foxy Shazam by Foxy Shazam is a solid album. If you haven't heard of em' google and check out their myspace. They mix dance with the edge of hardcore..with an almost punk flare. I enjoy it very much. Their 2005 cut "Flamingo Trigger" is better in my opinion. Track one on Flamingo "French Passion of Animality Opera" is very good. I'd say that's the song that best represents the sound they're going for. Check it out. I promise almost everyone can find something they enjoy about this band. Mars Volta's new album total disappointment. Only 08' releases I can think of off the top to my head. |

| Scratch that, Protest the Hero's New album Fortress, amazing. They're the biggest Metal band out right now. You just may have not heard of them cause they're from Canada. If you like hair metal vocals(the singers voice has amazing range and he actually does many different techniques the hair metal style is the one he uses most) technical guitar work and bad ass break downs. this is the band for you.
