Default The Score (The Fugees)

Not a new album at all, but a new one for me. I'm listening to it right now, and damn, is it good. Political, biting, clever, and it has some great hooks. And their version of No Woman No Cry is beautiful.

1996, I think.

They're pretty new to me, but they've been around a while. They've all come out with solo stuff now, but their early stuff is pretty good. One of the few rap groups I've bought a cd from.

There's also a cover of Roberta Flack's "Killing Me Softly" on the cd that is quite beautiful, too.

I figured this was the 1996 album. That damn "Killing Me Softly" song was the summer hit thing and it drove me completely bonkers. (See, I don't eve use the word "bonkers" and now I am).

I guess this is going to be similar to our My Chemical Romance discussion. Whatever musical substance that may exist is whiped out by the assholes who burn you out on this shit.

Maybe in a few more years I'll be ready to check ou the Fugees album.
