Default Opeth - Damnation

Opeth is a Swedish progressive death metal band. The past and current members are incredibly talented musicians, blending many of their influences. This CD was produced and engineered by Steve Wilson (of Porcupine Tree), who is also a genius. It is their first mellow album, and probably one of their best albums, as their lead guitarist and vocalist, Mikael Ã…kerfeldt, puts it. All the tracks are different, yet combine to form a great sounding softer album, still sticking to their progressive style. Steve Wilson contributes vocals, and plays the keyboards in this album, having a great impact on its final result. This is one of my top ten albums, and recommend it to any musician, regardless of their taste in genres.

I love this album. I bought it three or four years ago when it came out and to this day I still listen to it at least 3 times a week.

Right on guys, fantastic album and very inspiring. I'm a little worried about Opeth at the moment though. With Peter leaving the band and Martin, who was one of the most creative drummers i've heard also gone, I am hoping their new release will be as good as their previous ones. Oh yeah, and porcupine tree are awesome too

If we all keep agreeing on music like this, this forum is gonna start to suck...

Aren't we supposed to be calling each other stupid and saying "you're a loser".

Yes, great album...

We should all start a band together.... haha

Flawless album...haunting and definitely has a vibe and genre all its' own. It's timeless.

And this CD really shows just why Martin's drumming is so missed.
