I would be betraying myself if I didn't post this, and I just posted about their sound in another thread which reminded me that there maybe some who havn't heard these guys yet.
If you are into heavy music that can be psychadelic, nauseous and apokalyptic aswell as aggressive and thought provoking then you may have heard of Neurosis. Their 6 man band line up includes a projectionist who composes visuals for the band when they perform, aswell as the usual drummer (who creates the most amazing simple yet deeply inspiring sequences), 2 guitars (who both do vocals - they do tend to shout a lot but their lyrics are very, very good & not your usual we worship satan stuff), bass player and synth/percussion player. Their gigs are truly awesome experiences and they don't tour outside of the states that much (but I've managed to see them Live twice). They have about 10 albums released and their last two were produced and recorded by Steve Albini @ Electrical Audio studios. They record their albums as completely live as possible so as to retain the bands character which is derived from them all playing together. If you are into heavy atmospheric experimental music but haven't heard them yet I recommend you check them out NOW! I could write paragraphs about how much I like their sound but those who know...know...and once you discover them theres no turning back. Its more fun to discover them yourself rather than me go on about them. They've been around for more than 10 years and are probably one of the most solid, committed, hardworking, inspirational bands that exist. They also have their own record label now. Their last 2 albums have been a lot mellower than previous ones but don't let that statement fool you into thinking they sound less heavy. Quote:
