I think its a great cd overall. There is something kind of weird about the sound of the vocals they sound kinda thin or something, and i also would have liked to hear what it sounded like before they squashed the shit out of it, but i still think it's awesome. I'm not sure it should have taken five years since their last cd but whatever. Anyways my point is i like it and there's some good catchy music on there, so if thats your thing check it out.

![]() Thanks for starting this thread. I haven't heard the CD yet but looking forward to hearing it and discussing it (except for the Squashing Discussion...it's the industry's tool right now; resistence is futile until the fad is over....just like the T-Pain effect).

I have only heard the single so far, so a judgement on the album may be a bit premature, but I will give my opinion anyway. I think the only way Green Day could have come close to topping or equalling "American Idiot" would be to not even try. What I mean is, I think they should have put out an intense, raw, punk rock album. What Green Day did though, is try to capture the "American Idiot" magic a second time. "Know Your Enemy" sounds like it could have come from the American Idiot album. I thought American Idiot was a great album; but based on the new single, I really have no interest in hearing the rest of the album.

I think it is actually quite strong - on it's own or next to American Idiot. Butch Vig captures drums like no other rock producer - always knew GD had a bear of a drummer, but wow. I don't see that they tried to make Idiot 2, but to do a 180 would have actually seemed more contrived to me. This is the band as they are now. I'll take honesty over career calculation any day.
