Wow...very nice and informative site you have here! I am a lurker minimal poster on other pro tools forums and I found a random link that brought me to this smorgasbord of information and like minded home studio enthusiasts! I've played guitar for over 20 years, tried to be a rockstar with a punk band somewhere in between there, and have continued trying to write songs for the sheer pleasure of doing so since I gave up "the dream". My aggressive work schedule takes away a lot of recording and songwriting time...so now I get to it when I can get to it...and just crack a 12 pack of Newcastle and have fun while doing so. I suck at home recording...but I used to be ass. Over the years I have moved from full out ass when I first started back in 2004, to tastes like ass for a period of about a year to a quick stint/jaunt through pitiful to my current stage of full blown suck. I do not understand the method and the science behind recording (nor have I spent the proper time nor training doing so) so I feel that until I finally do so, I will always stay at the suck stage. I mix mainly by ear and use the crutch of programs that I purchase. I am not a saint by any means, but pirated software I have found, is not the way to go in that it tends to be very picky about working when you most need it and usually gives you fits when you are behind the 8 ball deadline! Rig: Windows XP 32 bit OS Gigabyte GA-EP43-UD3L Motherboard w/ Intel Core 2 Duo E7400 CPU (2.8ghz) 4 Gigs of Ram (but only 3.2 is recognized by my current OS) Recording Software:
Equipment: SM57 mic for instruments and a Bluebird condenser mic for vocals/acoustic work. Instruments:
I wish I could say that I will be an everyday contributor to this site...but my songwriting and recording sessions come in waves as does my patience for it. So I appreciate the site you have here, I plan to probably lurk more than post and my attendance will come in waves. Thanks for having me! Last edited by Acoustic-Fury; 07-07-2009 at 09:22 PM. |

Welcome aboard. Just share your experiences (the good, the bad, and the ugly) with your equipment as you play around it.

| I could only eat Ramen for so long...besides...something had to pay for my recording equipment! It definitely wasn't the music! Thanks for the welcome!

No problem. Yeah, I've been through a couple Ramen phases myself where a peanut butter and jelly sandwhich was like eating a steak dinner.
