Default vista

Hello, I'm still kind of new to the site but i just bought a new computer just for recording and mixing audio. I also just got cubase/lexicon but its not compatible with windows vista. Does anyone know how long i'm gonna have to wait or if there is other software out there for vista?

Thanks,

Aaron

There is no way of knowing.

I remember when XP came out. It didn't take too long for the audio manufacturers to catch up....maybe 6 months.

I never recommend using an unproven operating system for recording.

If I was in your position, I'd setup a dual boot (assuming you are using this computer for things other than recording) and use XP for recording.

Look at Apple bringing out Intel chips well over a year ago, and there are STILL manufacturers who haven't upgraded their software to work on it.

Windows users probably won't have as long to wait since there's a much larger user base to apply pressure, but since it seems that even Microsoft don't really expect the whole world to go out and buy Vista right now, you might have a little wait.

I'd buy a second drive (which you should have anyway), an XP Home license and set up a dual boot system.

I just read the Presonus newsletter. It appears that their Firefox is ready to go on Vista. This is a step in the right direction.
