 Trying to get started
Hello, I am new to the site and have a few questions regarding software. I am looking for affordable recording software. I am just looking for personal use. I have used Magix Music studio in the past and recorded many many songs with it. While that program was CHEAP it was a serious pain in the ass to use. It worked, but barely, and didn't give you any options other than combining tracks and thats about it. Unfortunatly I cannot justify spending more than $100 on a program (which I know seriously limits my options) Like I said I just use this for personal pleasure. I need a multi-track recording software that is somewhat easy to use and has options for effects and mixing. I don't know if such a program exists. I have seen ones in that range but I don't know if they are worth it. I am really a beginner when it comes to recording. I use a cheap M-audio interface and capable PC. Any info or insight would be greatly appreciated. Thanks -Matt   |

Generally speaking, I always recommend people buying an audio interface that meets their needs (via the Home Recording Soundcard Wizard) and making sure that it comes bundled with something like Cubase LE. Since you are past this stage, I recommend you check out Reaper. I've never used it but I know many people who are VERY happy with it. I think it's like $40 for personal use. Brandon

The academic version of Cubase Essential sells for $99. ($149 for regular version). Same software just.. - Academic discounts require proof of affiliation with an academic institution (ID or any school documents). Buyer must either be a student, teacher, faculty member, member of church or any non-profit organization.
