Alright people, hey wats^. im new here so yea haha.so i play guitar and im in a band and were just starting out really. and since were on a really low budget im trying to get a way to get a decent home studio here.
I was going to start out by buying the Toneport UX2 modeling interface thing and use that.
So I want to get an opinion on if thats a good idea and if anyone that has used the device before if they would have any advice or knowledge they could share with me. Like how it works and about the version of ableton thats in it. Also what I should get after this. My band consists of me on guitar and vocals, a bassist, and a drummer.

The Toneport will work fine for guitar (or bass) and vocals. If you plan on recording the whole band through it you will need a mixer. Otherwise you will need an interface with more inputss unless you just want to mike the room while everyone is playing (not an ideal method).

yea i figured i would need another mixer...thts wat i was planning on getting next...as well as more mics to mic the drums up
so after i get the toneport i'll get the mixer...then some mics.
Any1 hav any idea what i should get after that? remember im on a fairly small budget and just trying to get wat is necessary for a little more than decent recording as of right now.

If you were to use a mixer with the Toneport, you'd have to submix all the drums down to stereo. When you factor the Toneport UX2 is $140 and a mixer is probably another $200 you may as well spring a little extra cash and get something like the Presonus FP10 or Firepod which will allow you to track 8 simultaneous tracks without submixing the drums beforehand. I couldn't imagine getting great drum sounds with next to zero mixing options.

yea one of the things that scared me the most about the toneport was that no1 and nothing talked about being able to record drums on it much less have anything for drums in the thing. I'm lookin at the FP10 and it seems excellent. hopefully I could manage to get sum more cash for it...haha.
It states in the system requirements that I'd need a firewire port..what's that? lol.
also if I were to get cubase and the toneport would that work well together?
just wondering sum things
