After reading the RR forum for some time, I decided to join. I'm looking to get that clean, open sparated sound in the mix. I have come to the realization that more gear isn't the answer, I need to develop talent and technique. Perform mostly Irish ballads accompanied by acoustic guitar. My mixes seem to smear into a wall of sound instead of individual panned spots with depth. Look forward to sharing ideas with everyone.

Welcome to the forum! You're right, gear alone won't get you the sound you're aiming for. Technique is also a big part of it. Post something to get the discussion started. We're all here to help.
