Default Secret Agent Man..........

Hi everyone!!
It all started many years ago-my big brother gave me a 45 rpm copy of "Secret Agent Man" by Johnny Rivers. I played that record over and over.....and over. Then I got a Hondo guitar-and played that song over and over.....and over. That is how it started. That well worn record hangs on the wall in my house now-a constant reminder of how this all started...........

My name is Bob. I've been slinkin' around this site for about a week, and thought it was about time to introduce myself.

I'm 49, and after 30+ years of playing bars, BBQ's, casinos and frat parties,(yes, Secret Agent Man has always remained a part of my playlist) I've built a modest home studio and am in the process of trying to make it all work. I guess I did'nt realize the learning curve was so steep. It seems overwhelming at times, but I am slowly getting the hang of it.

I guess my main objective is to get some of my own stuff down for Grandkids(I have 11) so they will remember me for something other than my long hair and my ability to drink copious amounts of Jagermeister and still be (semi) functional. Yeah-with 50 right around the corner you start to think in those terms. And if down the line my skills get to the point that I can record others, well that would be icing on the cake. I would love to get involved with developing young bands/artists. But before that can happen, I have much to learn.....and as I'm finding out, much (more) equipment to buy!!!!

So I'm hoping I can tap some of your wisdom. I've got so many questions to ask, I'm not even sure where to begin. I hope you will all bear with me when I ask the stupid/obvious ones, and along the way, maybe I'll be able to pay it forward.

Nice to meet you all!

Secret Agent Man is a great song, something about it makes it one of those classic songs.

I am pretty much in the same boat as you but maybe 1 year ahead of you. I have decent equipment now, built a small studio and have been recording some family and friends. This is one of those hobbies that you will never master, there is always something to learn.

This site has been a tremendous help along the way, it has really changed the way I record (for the better).

My suggestion would be to tackle one narrow topic at a time, this way you will get specific answers from the knowledgable people that hang out here.

Post some recordings when you get some and you will get even more help that way. Good luck and see you around the site.

Welcome to the forum. Your tremendous experience (and ability to hold your liquor) will do wonders for your recordings!

Don't be shy about posting. You may be a perfect candidate for my home recording book when I get it finished.
