Ready to get the computer thing going.

Hi folks, I'm Phil. Thanks for having me and I'm looking forward to seeing what you're all doing with the home recording. I've been into music, professional and for fun since I've been 13 years old. I'm 51 now and still eager to accomplish good things in music. I play mainly guitar and flute and have dabbled in a few other instruments. So far I have a Roland VS recorder, a small collection of decent mics, built some SeventhCircle preamps (which I highly recommend) a digital drumset and Santa is probably putting a Kurzweil Rumour under my tree. Although I can accomplish a number of things with that, I need to get a small computer system going for a couple of reasons. One, for interfacing with the Roland and also, I purchased Spectrasonics Atmosphere and an Audiophile 2496 PCI interface card, all to find out that my OLD presario will probably not be up for the job. I've commited myself to fulfilling a project that will require using this softsynth in conjunction with the Roland VS machine. This site seemed to be a good place to help me get up and running. I"ll need to find out a few things before I spring for a computer. Well, that's it for me in a nut shell. Nice to meet you all and look forward to interacting with you!!

Don't sweat the computer too much. Just get plenty of RAM and Windows XP, you'll be fine.

Hello and welcome Phil. There's a ton of invaluable information on this site if you take the time to do some browsing. I've only been around here for about a month and Ive learned so much in that short space of time. If you cant find what you're looking for- just ask!

Thanks folks, yeah, I am sweatin' the computer as a matter of fact. I must remember it wont be running 48 tracks and 30 plugins in Protools. Just Atmosphere and Ableton lite. I'll definately start searching around here for all the good info and questions will come. Thanks for your support and I'll definately see you around.
