Default Quick Introduction

Hello folks,
I'm Eugene. i'm a songwriter/guitar player and amateur producer from New York. I record my own stuff using Protools in my bedroom. I joined this group to further my limited knowledge and maybe make some friends. Thanks all.

I'm new to all of this with Protools as well. My first project is to record a gal who plays acoustic guitar and sings. I am currently playing around with different micing techniques and exploring the different sounds I can get. I'm almost ready to record her 5 songs I think. I'll share them on the forums to get some feedback as I go.

Thanks for the kind welcomes . Ferguson, there are some cool threads here on micing techniques for acoustic guitar. I picked one up last night - Placing a mic 4 inches from the 12th fret, slightly above and angled downward at a 45 degree angle - that I used today with excellent results. Good luck on your project.

Be careful with those "mic placement presets". They are great for turning the brain off. Not always great for capturing great tones.

Funny you should mention that...
Yesterday I did some acoustic recording using that mic placement. Today I tried the same thing with a 12 string acoustic and it sounded like crap. It's a trial and error type of thing.

Welcome to the forum, Paul. Maybe you should make a post in "Getting Started" and tell us what problems you are having.
