problem with signal chain M-Audio Fast Track pro... HELP!!

Hi Everyone.

I am new to this forum. Hopefully you all can give me a hand with a problem I am faced with:

I purchased a M-Audio Fast Track Pro as my interface. I was happy with it until I started to get some cash to upgrade my Preamps. What I did was purchase the ART PRO Channel. This device has only analog outs. There in lies the problem. I initially plugged the pro channel directly into the XLR input on the FastTrack. I realized that this was not a good set-up since i was boosting my signal (when it was unncessary). I then tried to plug into the back of the device (there are two 1/4 inserts) in an attempt to bypass the preamps on the fast track. No signal.
I then borrowed a behringer eurorack ub1202 from a friend and plugged in the 1/4 on this device. I then used the main outs of the behringer and plugged them into the two 1/4 inserts on the Fast Track pro.....no signal on my DAW. I see that there is a signal being captured on both the PRO CHANNEL and the EURORACK (on the led indicators).

What am i doing wrong here?

I used logic pro 8 as a daw.

PLEASE HELP!!!!
