Default ok if you insist :)

hi!

i am cosan. this is my first post. i play guitar in a band called "ziggurat". i am using fl studio for my music. here's the reason i joined this forum; i want to record my own live guitars... but after reading lots of posts i think i'm gonna give up... cause i dont have any equipments! i just have my old little Marshall Valvestate and a shure mic (im not even sure it a shure).

i tried to do some recordings but wow they were crap. i'm not sure if i want to embarrass myself by putting the mp3 files here.

even i cant understand english well. ok, so what am i doing here? i dont know... do any of you think i can record bearable electric guitars with my equipment?

may be you can listen to my music (not with live guitars just crappy "fl slayer" sound) here: http://myspace.com/zigguratband

i'm new here and i know there are a lot of helpful ppl among you

ok cosan out.

Well that's your call. Confronting your "demons" is the only way to beat them. I'd advise you to not live your life in a hole. Everyone here has made horrible sounding recordings (especially me!). That's how you learn.

With that said, audio engineering is tough to master. It's a kind of a life long deal.

"Bearable" is subjective. Major label records have used Valvestate amps. It's more a matter of whether the sound of this amp is right for the song. The Valvestate wouldn't be my number one pick for most sounds, but I'm positive there are "bearable" guitar sounds within that amp.

Welcome to the forum!

This isn't as bad as you implied. The guitars are fizzy and lacking some balls, but it's not like this isn't fixable. Most of it could be addressed on the amp itself. Maybe this is a gear thing, but I'm confident that you could make better use of the gear you already have.

Where are you micing the speaker?

Have you tried firing up one of your favorite bands and attempting to match the sound?
