JIMMYGJR is on a distinguished road
Exclamation New Member

Hi Everyone,

My name is Jim and I recently joined the forum. I've been playing guitar since I was nine years of age and actually did my first recording on a wire recorder! I still have the first guitar my grandmother bought me when I started to play. Knowing how much I loved music, she left me her Magnavox HI Fi when she passed away. Some of you may remember those huge peices of musical furniture.

I played in the same band for fifteen years unit my wife forced my to decide between her and my music. I've now been divorced and still playing but unfortunately not with a band. I do get the opportunity to play out occasionally which still gives me a rush. Now I pretty much write my own lyrics and tunes.

Until four months ago, I was recording on a Tascam Porta Studio 7, a four track cassette recorder. Things have really changed. I bought a high-end Sweatwater Dual Tower Digital Recorder which I'm still learning how to use. I also got a Tascam 2488, which I'm also trying to learn how to use. I've been reading a lot of manuals, joining PC and hardware based systems. I have a Midi controller that's still in the box. I figure I should have a decent understanding of recording and transferring between both recording applications.

I'm looking forward to meeting some of you here and also getting a chance to listen to your own tunes and recordings. Take care and keep music in your lives!

Welcolm to the forum.

It sounds like you have a lot of experience!

It kind of sucks that you gave up your band and still ended up divorced. I guess that's the way it goes, sometimes.

If you have any questios about your computer recording gear or just want to post, have at it!

Brandon
