Post My Recording Plan - Tips, Suggestions, Advices and Critics needed

Ok, so I will lay out my plan for recording my band`s next album. I have limited experience and some knowledge on recordnig. My band play ska-punk rock. you can listen to my previous recording examples on this link

pochetna

i recorded this like this:
drums recorded using 3 mics going into a mixer and into a computer using adobe audition
firs mic was positioned in between hihat and snare, second on the bass drum and the third in between flor tom and ride cymbal. recording of the drum track took me 3 hours for 12 song. later on i realized i should have used more mics... begginers mistake. and due to lack of experience. recorded with no compressors or EQs whatsoever. just plain raw sound as it is from the mics.

the guitars and voice ( two el. guitars and a bass gutar ) were recorded through distortion pedal connected to audio input on my PC soundcard.
using Native Instruments Guitar Rig i setup the sound for wich, at the time, I thought was good...

Voice was recorded via AKG microphone used for radio jurnalists. Pluged directly into soundcard an thats it. voice track was put trough dinamics processing, i think something like 8:1. i dont remember.

i also recorded songs for theese bands

MySpace.com - SADO MAZO - Sarajevo - Grindcore / Metal / Other - www.myspace.com/sadomazosarajevo
MySpace.com - Marginalac Margarin - Sarajevo, BA - Punk / Hip Hop / Other - www.myspace.com/marginalacmargarin

theese songs were recorded the same way, exept the drums wich were programmed in fruity loops.

ok so my plan for the next set of song is to record like this...

drums: electzronic drums conected trough midi to PC
using cubase and Addictive Drums.
export each component of the drums in 24bit wav files for mastering

Guitars: record using Peavy amlifier and a good "shure" mic
record also in 24bit wav

Bas guitar: the same way as guitars ( only using bass amp )

Voise: i dont know how im gonna record voice yet. probably using some high end "shure" mic, also in wav

as long as "mastering and mixing" is concerned im a total newbie, so tips, suggestions, advices are more then wellcome.

I assume you mean "mixing". Mastering happens after mixing.

You are off to a good start. Your plan sounds pretty good. I wouldn't bother with high end or low end mics. I would bother with mics that sound appropriate for the situation. Use a mic because it sounds good. Not because it is expensive.

I listened to some of the songs. If you post them in Recording Reviews there are some fairly simple tricks that can make a big difference in your drum mixes even if you can't change individual mics much. These tricks will probably still be necessary when you use your drum samples as well.
