Long-time musician/entertainer...need to start recording some demos...
Using my PA gear and recording live...very basic home recording...
Starting to shop for a analog/digital interface to go between my PA gear and laptop computer...
Gonna start simple and build experience from there...
Any tips???...hardware/software...just jump in...appreciated...

Welcome Kapuna. Recording to the computer is so much nicer than recording to tape, since you can always go back and 'random access' your ideas instead of having to hunt through miles of tape for that cool idea you laid down 2 months ago.

Unlimited tracks, no generational loss are some of the things I love about digital recording.

Just keep it as you always have.. entertaining and writing. Keep it simple and don't get caught up in the chase for ultimate gear. If you want to make a Def Leppard Hysteria album, chances are you won't get to do that at home (unless you're rich).

That being said, these forums and site are filled with loads of info to start, feel free to ask us any questions if you get stumped.

Feel free to listen to some of the samples and demos I have created using probably the most basic gear of everyone on this forum. It's very affordable to get started, and you can grow into better gear as your ear gets trained and your needs grow.

It's not about money. It's about having absurd amounts of talent and time. If I had more talent and more time, I could make a record like Hysteria at home.
