Default Less expensive interface question

Hello,

I'm looking to buy an interface to record myself singing with my acoustic guitar, I'm looking for something sweet and simple. I've been told the m-audio 2x2 is very good, but wasn't sure if there is anything out their cheaper than that.

Also, is it worth having a headphone jack on the interface? Is that important to have?

Also, while I'm at, any suggestions as far as cheap music recording software? Acid music studio, Cakewalk music creator etc?

I'd appreciate any suggestions.

Thanks much

Hey man, I'm new here as well and in the same position as you.. soo much to learn. The m-audio 2x2 looks great fo the price. The only thing I can see that it doesn't have is a preamp, which might be a big deal depending on how serious you are with your recording. The headphone input is important if you plan on lets say recording your acoustic track and then later recording your vocals. You'll want to be able to hear your acoustic track through studio headphones while you sing the vocals. If you plan on doing both together, I guess that wouldn't be an issue.

Take everything I say with a pinch of salt as I'm a newbie to.

I've never heard of an M-Audio 2x2 and I'm an M-Audio dealer. Show me a link.
M-AUDIO - MIDISPORT 2x2 - 2-In/2-Out USB MIDI Interface ? this is a MIDI interface, no audio goes through this thing.

The fast-track pro is very popular and inexpensive AUDIO interface.

Yes you want a headphone jack on the interface.

Sonar Home Studio is good for starting out, if your on a PC. On a Mac can't go wrong with Garageband, later upgrade to Logic.

I was thinking of the fast track 4x4.
M-AUDIO - Fast Track Pro - 4 x 4 Mobile USB Audio/MIDI Interface with Preamps

Is there anything else out there with two mic. inputs for recording voice and acoustic guitar at the same time?

The fast track is a pretty good price though.

Thanks

The fast-track pro is the least expensive option for what you want to do.

The auto links keep going to the wrong page

This the FT Ultra is WAY BETTER! Worth paying extra.
