So I've decided to get help...starting by coming here, which is probably a bad idea considering I've been lurking around and some of you have a pretty bad track record with making me laugh but in the end you're helpful. I like Tech. Death Metal, Progressive Metal, and my guilty pleasure, Glam Metal usually what I need help on is drums and how to get the perfect drum sound and that's why I'm here.Due to my current and...actually long time addiction to hair metal and 80's hard rock, I've become accustomed to...gated reverb and the HUGE drum sounds of the 80's. That snare kills me EVERY time, its so amazing. I can listen to Kyrie all day and never get tired of how awesome the drums sound, same thing goes with Def Leppard and I dont give a damn if you dont like them, WINGER, fuck everything else but damn those drums sound good. I have in my arsenal, FL Studio, and EZDrummer but I can probably get whatever I need from G.C since I have friends that work there so what I need to do is figure out how to do those amazing gated reverb snares of the 80's are achieved through VST's. Since..I live in an apartment and I dont have the big parking lots needed to record drums in haha. Thanks a lot in advance guys. Eric. |

| Yeah I know, but still...how specifically? How much attack, how much release, how many db's on the compressor etc. Whats a good place to start, I know that its up to taste and all, but I still would love to know how to get a good start on it.
