Thumbs up Howdy Y'all

My name is Dustin,

I live in Arizona, I play heavy Metal and I am new to recording.

I hope to pick up some tips and tricks and maybe even help others to learn a thing or too along the way. I recently purchased a Presonus Inspire 1394 with Cubase LE, running Windows Vista as my OS and using Vintage30s and an SM57 to get the licks on vinyl LOL (not really).

I am also a member of the Randallamplifiers.com forum as I own a Randall Mts RM100, also a member of the Seymourduncan.com forum but I dont own any SD pickups right now so Im not current on the latest there.

Well just wanted to say HI and I sure am glad to be a part of the community here.

Thanks.

Thehunter

Sounds like you have some like gear, I use 2 Presonus fp10 's and love Randall amps. I have a RH100, and a RH100G2 half stacks. Im alittle new to Le4 myself, but after working with alot of dif DAW's Im finding it is the most stable for Presonus. Also a note for you, I have noticed Le4 likes to lag in playback if you use the compretion plugins that come with it along with other FX. Im trying to find a good comp VST to work with. just thought ild share that with you, this is a great forum alot of good people are on here, have fun!

Cool thanks man awesome tips.

So I think I have a bad preamp on the Inspire, On channel1, when I turn the gain up and the level it just squeels and hisses and channel 2 works just fine.

Recording is another issue. I get a little clip noise when Im just monitoring the the track to be recorded, nothing i couldnt fix by adjusting the gain, then when I playback the recording It just horrible CLICK CLIK CLIK CLIK alll the way through the recording, until I stop playing. And also when I us a drum loop i get the same thing just massive amounts of clik clik clk and i cant seem to control it. any suggestions. I went to the Presonus site and looked under FAQ and got some things to try.

mmmm.. Im not sure, I would start with cables. You also might look at the Prsonus forums, they are not alot of help I think most the people on there are dumb asses. But it wouldent hurt to try. Im kinda new to the firewire thing myself. I have been recording with my Peavey 16fx mixer USB for awile and just got the fp10 's about 2 months ago. You might have a dead pot, but I would play with everything you can before calling that one. You also can get alot of help on this forum, alot of great people are on here, and will gladly help out all they can. Im sorry Im not much help there. I can tell you this, if you are using a 1/4 plug cable and not aa XLR, make sure it is a patch cable and not a speaker cable. I always use XLR, but have known people to use a speaker 1/4 plug cable as a patch and it will not work. godd luck many hails!!

Hey Dustin
Welcome to the forums. I cant say for sure what your particular problem is the result of but I do know a lot of people have compatibility issues with Cubase LE and Vista. In fact I did some research and nowhere could I find Vista listed as a compatible OS for Cubase LE. I checked the manual too and it only lists XP Home and XP Pro as requirements. Im not outright stating that this is your problem but its something I'd look into.
IMHO the rule of thumb is that trying to record (or do anything) in Vista is simply asking for trouble.
