Hoo Ray! I'm On The Forum
Hey All:
Just wanted to give a quick intro. I've been a bass player for 23'ish years, and have been compiling bits and pieces of lyrics for even longer, and am FINALLY learning to play guitar. I have a ton of influences, but the biggest are, in no particular order, Genesis, Beatles, AC/DC, Rush, David Baerwald, Kevin Gilbert, Squeeze, and Bob Schneider. There are many more, but in the interest of being concise, I'll stop here.
I'm in two bands right now. The local one in Fresno is called Acoustic Highway, a folk / country / gypsy blues band with lots of guitars and vocals. We do originals and covers. It's a blast!. Our female vox has a Stevie Nicks type voice, except without the out-of-control vibrato. And, believe it or not, I'm in a band in San Diego, 348 mile from Fresno called RareForm! I joined them in 1992 while living in SD. Things went well for a few years and then they slowed down. Though we never officially broke up, we played less and less together and started doing other projects... and then I moved to Fresno in 96. In mid 98, Cliff, our guitarist, called and said one of our friends was having a divorce party, and wanted.... no NEEDED! us to play. I said what the hell (plus I missed those guys). It went so well, we decided we were still a band, and now do two or three gigs a year, and have a gig scheduled for late August. RareForm is the band that just won't die!
I have always wanted to lay down some tracks. Up to now, I've been putting it off, find one excuse after another to "do it tomorrow". "I've got too much latency" (that one is fixed), "It's not going to sound the way I envision", "I can only play bass and no one will understand what I want", blah, blah, blah........ Well now I've decided to kick myself in the rear and Just Do It! The tracks to be recorded will be very scratchy, and just be a skeleton of what I would like, and they may even have a guest vocal or squawk from my occasionally loud lorikeet Mr Bird!, but some songs will be posted within the next couple of days.
OK. Gotta go work now. Will check in soon.
