This is a great forum and I hope you can help me out, I've had my own studio for a long time but I also had a good engineer! I've been doing this solo album for about six years now, I played all the instruments for it and it's turned out great! Except for the Vocals!! I tell ya my setup and then the problem.
1. New Dell desktop pc duel proccessors and lot's of ram. I've got it set up in the next room so there's no noise at all. 2. I'm using the Alesis MultiMix8 for a soundcard and mixer but I also have a Mackie board I used for all the instruments. 3.AKG 414 mic which I love and monster cables. I've tweaked WinXP home addition till it runs smooth as silk! 4. Studio Properties VTB1 V series mic pre-amp. 5. I'm using Cool Edit Pro 2.0 and Studio 4 for tracking. Here's the problem, I get audio clicks and distortion only on Vocals tracking! I've tried everything to do to get this vocal set up right but no matter what I do, the clicks are still there. There not spit clicks, just random clicks. The audio levels are good..no red lighting! I'm singing 8 to 12 inchs away from the mic but still it distorts!! If you have any idea's on what to do, I sure would appreciate it,, it's holding up the whole album!! Denny |

Thanks for responding uab9253.Yes, I can monitor right from the multimix, I hope that's what you mean. I record eveything seperate, I do a scratch mix and then add vocals, that way it's easier on my cpu. I haven't recorded just the vocal by it's self but I'll try it. Latency is set at 128.
