Smile Hey all :)

Hey, new to forum and new to sound engineering, just setting up a little home studio and trying to find out as much as possible about everthing rly.

I have been looking at soundcards and am trying to work out if unbalanced sound cards are ok to get, i know that one has 1 wire for inputting signal a balanced soundcard has two, so u dont get sound spill, but the emu 0404 soundcard i was planning on getting is unbalanced, so is that a rly bad thing.
Also there are unbalanced instruments, is that just the cabling u use.

Look forward to hearing what u have to say, theres so much to learn even at the beginning stages lol

The Emu 0404 is a fine soundcard. There are some audio interfaces that use TRS, but most of them are just using a standard 1/4". I'm pretty confident my M-Audio Delta 1010 used unbalanced inputs and I never had an issue with it being noisy.
